Happy Halloween from the Weeks'

**Well I just got on to post a different post and realized I forgot to post about Halloween and the pictures! **

I've never been much for celebrating Halloween, but as Adeline gets older I'm trying to be more festive with all Holidays. I got out my Halloween decorations the week of Halloween and we carved out pumpkin a couple days before Halloween. Adeline picked out Sophia the First to carve in the pumpkin. I think I picked the most complicated design in the book!

Adeline loved helping us get all the guts out!

Then she watched while I traced & carved.

She is so proud of her pumpkin! Thank goodness too, it took long enough to carve!

Halloween night ended up being very cold and rained! So no Trick-or-Treating around the neighborhood! Thank goodness Bass Pro Shops was having a Halloween event with in-store Trick-or-Treating, so Adeline still got to have some fun!

Adeline of course was ELSA, like every other girl out there! We already had this costume and she loved it, so I ran with it.

She loved it and had a great Halloween, we hope you did too!

Halloween Treats

I have been having fun being a Stampin' Up Independent Demonstrator! If you know me personally, you know that I love to craft so this is a dream job for me. I can't always think of original things to do, so it is great to be given ideas and provided the supplies needed! Stampin' Up offers lots of Kits for any project you'd like to do. I decided to make some Halloween goodie bags to hand out since we are new to the neighborhood, so I used some kits and accessories.

One of those kits is Paper Pumpkin - it is a monthly subscription kit that contains all the stamps, ink, paper, and accessories needed for the craft project in the kit. For the September Kit we got these super cute Burlap treat bags I showed in a previous post. I gave one to my husbands Grandmother when we went to visit her last weekend and the rest I'll be giving away on Halloween.

On my last order I picked up the Pumpkin Pie Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit, which is on the Clearance List. It makes 10 goody bags and took me no time at all to put together! All I needed was a stamp and ink!

On my last order I got some Chevron Tag A Bag Gift Bags to try out so I went ahead and made more Trick or Treat goodie bags. I used my Chalk Talk Framelits to cut out the tags from Tangelo Twist paper and used a couple different stamp sets - Paper Pumpkin Sept. Stamp (BOO!), Fall Fest (Ghost & Pumpkin), and Gorgeous Grunge (splatter). I loved the quality of the bags, they aren't just your regular paper bags, they have a more cottony feel to them.

Hope you and your family had a safe and happy Halloween!

The holidays are fast approaching this momma! Wow, I cannot believe it will be October in two days. I haven't even begun to think about Halloween decorations - I've barely gotten settled in our new house. We are settled I guess, but I haven't unpacked 3 boxes of home decor or any of my hanging artwork. I better get busy! But instead here I am on the computer shopping on Zulily for Adeline, of course.

She's been asking for Snow White - and both of those options are CUTE! But you'll have to wait and see what we decide.

Of course Adeline wanted to look with me and when I got to the Christmas Holiday outfits she had to point out a few she wanted. I love the selection of super cute with a bit whimsy holiday clothes.

Of course Zulily offers items for everyone and your home, but if you're like me you love buying cute things for your kids before yourself! Paper Pumpkin - September 2014

This was my first month getting Paper Pumpkin! I got one in my starter kit with Stampin' Up and blogged about that kit here if you want to take a look! I signed up for Paper Pumpkin as soon as I signed up as an Independent Demonostrator with Stampin' Up. How could I not? I love discovering new crafts and ideas and I love that someone else is telling me how to do it! There is no point in re-inventing the wheel people! Stampin' Up even sells Past Kits or refill kits if you want to make more!

For September we received "Boo-tifull Bags Kit" - which is a set of 6 burlap bags decorated with stamped tags and sequins. I took my daughter, Adeline, to the library this morning and took my Paper Pumpkin box. Only other craft supply I needed was a pair of scissors, wet wipes or stamp cleaner, and a stamp block. I brought along more dimensionals and the tape runner, but didn't need them!

Here are all the supplies. The tags came in sheets that you have to punch out, then I stacked them on the coordinating backer papers.

First I worked on the tags - stamped them, then placed stickers, then attached smaller tags to the larger tags using Stampin' Dimensionals provided in the kit to give the tags some dimension of course!

Close up of the dimension the dimensionals give!

Next I put the tags on the bags with the clothes pins and sequins. I didn't have any candy to put in the bags at the library so I just tied the black string around the bags loosely so I'll have room later.

I had plenty of supplies to make the bags, but then I had leftovers! I can't wait to use these on other crafts - cards, boxes, or just use as tags on other Halloween treats!

These craft supplies can be used in lots of different ways. Be sure to check out Paper Pumpkin's Pinterest page to see how others are creating with Paper Pumpkin, find out different ways to use the same products!

If you are interested in signing up with Paper Pumpkin it is only $19.95/month with shipping included. Get your friends to sign up too and have monthly crafting parties putting together your kits.

Dress Makin' and Halloween

When I started planning Adeline's 1 year birthday party I decided I wanted to make Adeline her Birthday Dress. I found lots of ones I loved on Etsy (like here and here) but I knew that if I applied myself I could make a dress. I bought this pattern from PatternsByAmy on Etsy. This was my first sewing project using an actual pattern, well now that I think of it I did use a pattern on the shoes from previous post.

I am pretty proud of myself with how it turned out and how easy it was. I've never done buttons so just for the test dress I use snaps. My Mother-In-Law just got a new sewing machine - so we are hoping to do the button holes with it for the actual birthday dress. So let me know what you think!

So hard to get Adeline to stand on her own lately! Here she is with my MIL today modeling her new dress. We just tried it on over her clothes since she'll have to layer it.

Today was also Adeline's First Halloween! We didn't really do anything special, she just helped me pass out 60 treat bags I had made up earlier in the month. We ran out of bags within 45 minutes! I just hate to spend so much money on candy and junk to hand out. I guess next year though I need to buy a bit more.

So...you say it's Halloween?

Halloween Festivities!

Saturday was a busy day for Halloween Festivities for Adeline. Alan and I took her to Mill Mountain Zoo to the Zoo Boo. I have a year membership - so Adeline and I were free. Wasn't really any different for her, we just walked around and looked at the animals. Some animals were out and about that aren't normally when it is hot outside, so that was nice. They had a lot of activities for older kids. They had Trick or Treat stations set up in various places throughout the zoo from various business/churches, arts and crafts, magician, etc.

One of the Trick or Treat booths was handing out Hot Wheels cars! We picked a Reese's Cup car since we love them!

Next we went to First Roanoke Baptist Church to their Fall Festival. They had a lot of bounce houses for bigger kids. Adeline mainly just watched all the big kids. The also had a petting zoo, rollerskating, face painting, laser tag, etc. It was a huge event with a big turn out.

Pumpkin Patch - Jeter Farms Roanoke, VA

Today we went to the Pumpkin Patch as a family! I've been wanting to go, but decided to wait until Alan could go with us. With his work schedule it is not always easy! We decided on Jeter Farms since they were the closest and we only had a short time there before Alan had to go to work!

I haven't been to a Pumpkin Patch since I was young, so it was nice to relive some of those memories for me and to create the new memories with Adeline and Alan. This pumpkin patch was very reasonabley priced and worth the $7 entrance fee. The fee includes the petting zoo (calves, pigs, rabbits, and goats) and pony ride, hay ride, corn maze, kids train, kids slide, etc. They also have a country store that sells all sorts of lovely goods. We bought some apple butter! There is also grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and all the fixins' to buy to fill your belly after a fun time at the farm. The cost of the pumpkins are very reasonable as well. We only paid $3 for a decent size pumpkin. I would have picked 2 if I knew they were so cheap, but we were pressed for time. Adeline also got herself a baby pumpkin (free).

There isn't much time left to visit the Farm, so head on our to Jeter Farm to get your pumpkins and have some fun!

Getting ready to go!

Excuse my awkward pose!

Hay Ride

She loved the bunnies and they loved her! Too bad she kept closing her eyes for the pictures.

Adeline had a fun time, which is hard to tell from the pictures! She just didn't like being put down for pictures and was a bit overwhelmed I think.
