Back!
Adeline and I have been in Myrtle Beach, SC for the past week with my family (parents and brother). It was a wonderful trip but I am very glad to be home and can't wait to see my husband when he gets home from work! Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow to post pictures of the trip, they will probably be spread over a few days.

Beach time
Adeline and I are at Myrtle Beach this week with my family. I am so glad she got to go before 1. She likes the sand, just not the water. Oh well, it's still fun. Here are a couple pics. Sorry for bad quality, a couple are pics of pics.

Adeline is 10 months old!
I know I've probably said this before - but she is growing up so fast and she is the best baby!
She basically is crawling, just isn't going very far yet. Just a "step" or two forward. Today when I went in to get her out of bed she was FINALLY sitting up on her own! Then when I went back to check on her later in the day while she was in the crib, she stood up again on the side. She is getting more and more adventurous every day.
Also I swear she is saying Baby! - more like Bah-Bah. She loves other children, definitely need to get her to more playgroups!
Here is Adeline with her Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds |

Toy Car Roll-Up
Adeline was invited to a birthday party for one of the little boys in our play group, and I knew I wasn't going to be able to go to my usual place for Birthday gifts before the party so I decided to make something he probably wouldn't have - a Car Roll-Up.
Every little boy needs somewhere to store his cars, and it has to be cool. Matchbox Cars says they are for ages 3+ (because of small parts), well I'll leave it up to the parents discretion (he is turning 2). But I'm thinking I've seen him with small cars before, and if not mom can hide until he's old enough! The age limits on toys are a joke though. I bought Adeline some maracas today - they are for 4+! Seriously? I guess IF they break open there are small parts, but I don't leave my daughter alone to play and she received some cheaper plastic ones as a birthday favor that she has LOVED to death (literally - they've been dropped so many times they don't sound right) and they never broke open and I threw them away as soon as I thought they were getting close to that. Parents need to be parents, period.
ANYWAY....
I followed the tutorial by My Little Gems. Well mostly, you know me I just glance at the instructions then figure it out for myself the rest of the way. I of course make little errors here and there, but no biggie. For this one my one Oops was not putting the ribbon down further - but no big deal and it still works. I picked up the CARS fabric from the remnants bin at JoAnn Fabrics and thankfully had it on hand already! Remnants bin is awesome for small projects like this and I have enough left to make another I believe! (So if you want one, let me know!)
Here is the finished product:
And then you must have a gift bag to present the present in. I like to reuse old shopping bags if I don't have a gift bag in my stash that fits the occasion. So I took this small bag from bareMinerals and made it into a birthday gift bag by placing Birthday stickers over the lettering and using a black sharpie to cover what stickers couldn't!

Longwood Park Day
I believe Longwood Park is our favorite park right now. It has baby swings and other play things for Adeline - most parks have nothing for babies. So today we went! Prepare for the photobomb.

Fall is here!
Yesterday we went for a walk and I had to break out Adeline's fleece! It is getting cold and Alan is loving it, I'm not so sure since that means winter is right behind it! Fall I am okay with, I like the cooler weather, I just don't like cold winters.
Adeline looks so cute in this outfit she received as a gift last year. When I got it I didn't believe she would be this big by the time it got cold it looked so big!
Adeline just amazes me each week, she is wonderful and I wouldn't trade anything for being able to stay home with her as she grows.

Help out a friend!
Insurance companies are great most of the time when you need them - but there are those times where they are not! I myself went through a battle with my insurance company to get them to cover my Midwife and possible homebirth. I had to write a letter and appeal the denial of coverage, and thankfully the denial was overturned!
I have a friend from high school who has been battling with her insurance to cover her walk aid that she needs to keep her mobility due to MS. Sure she can use crutches for the rest of her life - but the walk aid will make her life so much easier. So some of her friends have started a campaign to raise the money she needs for the walk aid. She must pay out of pocket for the device by September 25th approximately $4,500 or she will be sued by the company if she does not return it.
I've already contributed and I would like to ask my family and friends if they can contribute - even a $1 will help. Below is where you can make a contribution through ChipIn - which is through paypal.
Here is also a link to a Facebook event that was created to raise money as well and more information as well to donate.
I gave, will you?

TEETHING!
This week has been something. Miss Adeline has 4 upper teeth coming in at the same time! Two have already poked through with two more following. For a couple days I forgot to put her amber necklace on and I could definitly tell the difference! When she has it on she is such a happier and uncranky baby! The days I forgot, oh me!
So since she is being a bit more needy than usual I haven't got much done this week. Working on some items for my ETSY shop - bibs! I'll post once they are done. They are all cut out and pinned together waiting for me to have some time to sew, have about 5 all with the same cute Giraffe print fleece.
Adeline is working on pulling herself up. For my birthday last Saturday (8th) she pulled herself up for the first time in her crib!!! I think I cried a little! Crawing will happen any day, she is so close and tries all the time. She is also trying to pull up on everything. Though, like the doctor said, she's a very content baby and usually just happy to sit and play. Here's some pictures of her from the past couple weeks. Most are cell phone pics so sorry for the crummy pics!

DIY Baby Shoes
Yesterday I went Olde Salem Days and while there bought some super cute shoes from Crazy Leggies and they inspired me to make some for Adeline. I used the Modern Baby Bootie Tutorial from Tao of Craft. These are my first attempt and I am a beginner sewer so they are not perfect! But they are wearable and hopefully I learned a lesson or two so I can make more for Adeline!
Any recommendations on how to sew a straighter line in the curve of the shoe? That was my worst newbie mistake!

Hairbows! DIY
Adeline doesn't have enough hairbows, I can never find one to match certain outfits. So I decided to make some of my own. Michaels had their Fall Stems on sale last week for $0.99/each - which is a great deal! Here is how I made the flower hairbows:
1 - Pull the flower heads off the stems - they came off very easily for me and I just cut off any excess stem with scissors so the back of the flower would be as smooth as possible.
2 - Cut out felt circles dependent on the size of your flowers. You can buy pre-cut circles, but I had felt already and didn't want to spend extra $$!
3 - Using your glue gun connect the hair clip to the felt. I put a line of glue then clamped the clip down, then added more glue on top to attach flower to.
4 - Once the flower head is attached it will look like this:
5 - Add hot glue and finish attaching felt to flower:
6 - And you are done! I made all 6 in about 30 minutes.
If anyone would like for me to make some for them let me know.
