Happy Mothers Crafting

SOURCE

Happy Mothers Day to my mom, Sara, and my mother in law, Reba! By now they've both seen their Mother's Day gifts so I can now share them with all of you. I knew they didn't need another trinket laying around the house so I figured they would love nothing more than a picture of their grandchildren. I didn't want to just print a picture and stick it in a frame, I wanted to create something unique that they can keep for years.

It's been all the rage to do photo transfer to wood, so I decided to give it a try. I looked for a tutorial that would be easy to follow and quick, I followed the tutorial by Southern Revivals from oh, 3 years ago! So yeah I'm way behind since this has been a thing for at least 3 years!

My first stop for this project was of course Michaels, mostly because its the only craft store in town. When we first moved here in 2014 there wasn't any craft store within 30 minutes! So I'll settle for what I've got and drive 30 min to Hobby Lobby for the bigger projects! So, at Michaels I knew I wanted to do more of the pallet style wood board, they have several different sizes but the one I chose was 10"x10" then based on the tutorial I knew I needed Mod Podge - Photo Transfer Medium for the photo to be able to transfer to the wood. I decided I wanted to decorate the wood a bit as well with some flowers so it wouldn't be so plan, I chose some Recollections Paper Flowers that went with the picture and board.

The only downside to doing a photo transfer is that you have to print the picture using a LaserJet Printer and remember to mirror image your picture (as you can see I did not forgetting he had words on his shirt, oops!). So I had to send my picture by PDF to Office Depot, which doesn't cost much but isn't very convenient!

Now that you have the materials needed follow the tutorial by Southern Revivals! It worked great for me. I wish I'd rubbed a little bit more paper off in a couple areas but I was worried about damaging the image, and I think it still looks great. I chose to sand the edges a bit, which is a good thing because some of the picture came off anyway on the edges! I then sealed it with Mod Podge Matte Finish, but be careful when you do it so the Mod Podge doesn't show on the wood like mine did (see you can learn from my mistakes!).

I also have a Silhouette Cameo, so I decided to put a quote on the bottom of the boards unique to each grandmother. For my Mother In Law I put "They call me Nana" and for my mom I put "They call me MaMaw". Then on the back of each sign I put the kids names and the year.

So after all that reading here is the finished product!

I love the added flowers! I had mommy brain earlier this week and totally forgot about the flowers so my mom got hers in the mail without the flowers, so if she decides she likes the look with the flowers I can add hers later! I just added them using E6000, I'm sure a hot glue gun works as well but I had it handy and it dries quick!

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Be You Bravely - Adeline's new Shirt

I found an awesome set of leggings at Target for Adeline but they didn't have any cute shirts to go with it! This is when I'm glad I am able to make Adeline super cute things. I bought a long-sleeve shirt in cream to put something on it!

It took me a week or so to finally get down to it but I searched for inspiration online and came across the MOPS saying "Be You Bravely" and used the logo to make a shirt for Adeline. It is so cute!

It is so refreshing to see Adeline live her life without a care in the world. This is her new favorite pose and she LOVES making funny faces!

This makes it all worth it - seeing her in such peace!

Alan has been teaching Adeline how to fit in to Bristol - here she is practicing! I didn't cut it down any so you can get the FULL experience, even of Alan coaching her! Haha.

Burlap, it's all the RAGE

Awhile back I bought some burlap panels with big plans to make some  wall decor for my ETSY shop. But we've been in a constant upheaval for the past few months due to hubby getting a job out of town and having to move twice in 2 months (moved to temp housing after house sold before buying a new house). We are finally getting settled in the new house and can't wait to show off the house and the decor, but I need a break from "house" stuff so I'm getting into crafting again.

The other day I finally decided to get out the burlap panels and play!! I didn't have a set project in mind so I went through my various files and found the below image. I decided to make a gift for my long time friend and teacher. I plan on adding some ribbon for it to hang from as soon as I can get to Michaels. Michaels is 30 minutes away from our new house! I do not know how I will survive!

Recently I found out one of my cousins is expecting her first baby, a boy! Since we are just on one income right now, any gifts need to be handmade. I plan on making her a basket of some items from my Etsy shop - a couple burp clothes, custom wipes container (not on Etsy Shop yet!, message me if interested), legwarmers, and onesies! Then I noticed from her registry she is doing a Lion King theme. So i searched online for an image to put on a burlap panel. I found this cute graphic online and traced it in my Silhouette Program. I'm pretty pleased with it.

I would love to make a panel for you, let me know if you have a quote or picture you are interested in one. I have 9x12 and 12x16 burlap panels available.

Happy 2nd Birthday Adeline!

Last Sunday we celebrated Adeline's 2nd birthday. Her actual birthday was the 19th, but we decided to celebrate with friends and family on Sunday. Adeline doesn't really have a favorite character yet so I decided to do a Minnie Mouse party for her. Now she talks about Minnie all the time!

I made use of my Silhouette Cameo to make some decorations, I only wish I'd had more time to do more. The possibilities are endless.

Adeline watched for all her friends to arrive!

Lots of friends and family came to visit!

Lots of yummy food that was a big hit!

Adeline was so happy at her birthday party, total 180 from last year! Last year she didn't get to nap before her party so was a bit cranky. This year she was still sleeping as her guests started to arrive!

Say Cheese!

Time to blow out the candle! She couldn't quite figure it out, so Alan helped.

For her Birthday we decided we wanted to get her a kitchen. And no we do not just go to the store and buy a kitchen...we build it! So Alan and his dad used these plans and built Adeline her very own kitchen! Then I painted it and used my Silhouette cameo to make all the little details on the stove. I also used Chalkboard paint on the fridge so she can write on it. I may still make a couple little things to put on the side of the fridge (menu, clock, etc.).

Here is Adeline seeing it for the first time!

Lots of Adeline's friends came to play!

Once everyone left we opened up a few presents and played with them. Adeline loves her baby doll, Sophia (Sopa in Adeline speak).

Thank you to all the Family & Friends that came and celebrated Adeline's Birth with us. She is truly an amazing little girl that I am thankful for every single day.

Personalized cups for Tots and Mom

I had a little bit of time during Adeline's nap on Sunday to do some crafting! I did nothing but craft during her 2 hour nap and it was great! I made a few things for Adeline and a couple for some of her friends.

Adeline is only 21 months but she does eat sandwiches sometimes but usually we'll just put snacks in this container. The other are for her friends Grayson & Eliza.

I found a 4 pack of these cups at Target and decided to make them more fun! They already have same color dots all over so I just used different color and size dots to make it more fun. Adeline already knows Minnie Mouse so I know she'll love that cup!

I found this cup at Walmart and loved the Zebra print.I only wish I'd had hot pink vinyl to use instead of the pale pink!

If you are interested in any sort of vinyl project let me know. I love doing custom orders!
