Adeline is 11 months old!

We now have a full-fledged crawler on our hands! She started really crawling while we were on vacation at the beach. She goes everywhere now and nothing is safe! I have to put up a barrier now to keep her out of my craft room!

It is so amazing how much they change from one month to the next! She just pushed her 6th tooth through, and believe me...we could tell she was teething. If I don't put her amber necklace on her, it is very obvious. It helps so much! And of course I just remembered I didn't put it on her today! Yikes for tonight. But since that 6th tooth came through she's been a very happy baby and she took 2 2 hr naps today!

Adeline loves her bus! I bought these overalls when I found out I was prego since Alan said he had a pair when he was a kid. This is her first time wearing them.

Adeline has gotten so many toys that the bins weren't doing a good job holding it all and she just dumped the boxes out anyway. So proud of myself - I asked Alan to drill holes and to attach the shelves to the sides so that she couldn't pull them off. Well....he's been pretty busy at work and going hunting so I did it myself! I want to paint the bookshelf, but didn't have time today. So I just went ahead and put it out. I knew I needed to anchor it to the wall, but hated to put holes in the wall so I tied it to the couch! Probably not as effective as anchored to the wall, but I pulled on it and it was pretty stable. I'll use the top as my side table. Like my Kettle Corn?

Water Baby

Adeline has been attending swim lessons, which at her age are more about water safety than swimming. She is doing great though. After her first week she learned to kick while on her tummy and is starting to kick while floating on her back. Adeline and I play in the shallow water at the end of her lessons. Here are a couple videos daddy shot today.

Adeline got to wear her first life preserver in water today. She wasn't too thrilled with it but did good.

We practice "jumping" off the edge and floating in the water.

We've been practicing going underwater - here Adeline caught her coming up out of the water. She does wonderful!

8 Months of Beautiful!

Adeline is 8 months old!

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful and beautiful baby girl. Right now she loves to stand up and can pull herself up with minimal assistance with my fingers. She can pull herself up to sitting while holding my fingers as well. She can get up on her knees but doesn't know what to do once she is up, so no crawling yet! She scoots backwards right now and maneuvers side to side while on her tummy. She loves to roll over and back and forth. She loves books and get so mad if you try to help her with them! 

BLW (Baby Led Weaning) is going great. We are not feeding solids at every meal, only if she's awake when we are eating and depending on her mood and last milk feeding. Her favorite foods are anything she can suck on to get the juices - watermelon, peaches, tomatoes, etc. We haven't ventured into meats yet, veggies and fruits for now. Oh and of course she loves bread (she wouldn't be my daughter if she didn't...).

Cloth Diapering #1

Once Alan and I decided to start trying for a child all the various decisions started - what diapers will we use, where will we give birth, to vaccinate or not to vaccinate, etc. Most people don't even think about these issues - they just assume paper diapers, hospital birth, to vaccinate, etc. I probably would have been the same way if not for friends who made me question the "norm".

In later posts I'll discuss our other choices, but for this post let's talk about Cloth Diapers!

Way before I became pregnant I met Jenna. Jenna is my husbands best friend's wife. At the time she was cloth diapering her baby and running an online cloth diaper business with her mom. At the time I was just like, oh cloth diapers. But that planted a seed and once we became pregnant Jenna was a great source of information.

If you are wanting to Cloth Diaper and wanting more information I found lots of help on BabyCenter in the Community section. The ladies there are awesome. I also purchased the book "Changing Diapers" by Kelly Wels it was nice to have something physical to reference and not just online references. She also has a great website and blog.

We decided to cloth diaper mainly for the cost savings aspect. However I love that I'm not putting all those chemicals on my baby's butt, and I can joyfully say we've not had one instance of Diaper Rash! Adeline used disposable diapers in the very beginning due to having very skinny legs and not having enough newborn diapers, so we basically had to wait until the one size diapers fit. She also had to use sposies (disposables) at daycare for the few months she was there. So for only cloth diapering part time then and full time now we've had a ton of cost savings!

Too Hot

It is crazy hot today! We ran some early errands now home playing. Adeline took all her toys out to play! Grandparents are coming over later to babysit so mommy can have a girls night out. We are heading to the movies to see " Magic Mike". I`ll write up a short review tomorrow.

Welcome to my blog!

After spending the past couple weeks reading blogs and doing a lot of thinking I've decided to start my own blog. I love to DIY from directions found online or just things I think of (which I think are original, but most likely not!). 


I've decided to make my blog a mix of DIY and Mommy. Yes, the dreaded MOMMY blog! I have a 7.5 month old, how can I not blog about our ever changing lives and the adventurers of Mommyhood! 


I love to do crafts. Currently my big crafty adventure is sewing. However I also scrapbook with a great group of local ladies - Queen Bee Croppers of NRV. If you are local and looking to join a scrapbooking group, we welcome new ladies! If you don't use Facebook we also schedule crops here - Group Spaces.
